The rebranding of the Daybreak

My more popular videos involve those who work hard on making load outs for DCUO members, but when I came across the news Daybreak was doing something to its management team, it caught my eye.  Now called "Franchise Studios", Mr. Dack Man provides some insights as to what this development may really mean... sooo, do consider a listen to the future of the DCUO, and what may happen in the future!

The DCUO 9th Anniversary: Notes on the advance to CR 255

The DCUO 9th Anniversary has arrived!  I wasn't an OG with the game, but around long enough to see its changes over time.  The character advance is nice, but if you don't know how to activate it, it can be a bit confusing.  Soo... I've made a quick primer on how to activate your upgrade to 255...

(Note: The F1 (on PC, at least) isn't the activation for character advancement!  This is the gift Chroma for players (unless it is your intention to add the gift Chroma to your newly minted CR 255 toon)!)
Regarding the progression to CR 255:

1) When you log into the toon you want to advance, you'll choose the "advance CR" button for a single free advance in CR.

2) Then... when you're on your toon, you'll still see the original CR.  You will see the "advancement blurbs" in chat that allow you to go to higher level content.

3) You'll need to open the box with the "Hera's Strength 2020" items.  This will provide you with a full suite of armor/weapons/trinkets to level up to CR 255.

4) Once you level up (e.g. add your items to reach CR 255), you'll receive mail with three vault tickets.  This will provide some additional items to raise your CR.

5) You'll be able to head off to the Justice League Dark events...!

Remember, though your CR is raised... you still have to grind (or buy) those skill points!  Small detail, but a money maker for DCUO.

Good through the end of the year!

A "Lost Weekend" on the DCUO

It appears to be a "lost weekend" with the DCUO, with:

1) No bonus weekend whatsoever - no bonus coins, tokens, or anything for that matter.  Thus, no real purpose to log into aside from the trodden weeklies and knock out the dailies... if that.

2) The endless Winter event - One of my least favorite seasonal events, as pretty much everyone who has played the game has already done almost all of the feats associated with it.  Also, the base items are frankly pretty lame.

3) Possibly the weakest Episode in the past couple of years - Metal Part II (Thanagar) is a huge disappointment (to me).  Loved Chaos Gotham and Metal I (Metal Gotham), but Thanagar is likely only interesting to those who like Hawkman/Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman, etc...  The newest set of Episodes have not been announced yet, but I pray that they are better than Metal II.

4) No post-Christmas sale - previous years have had great post-Christmas sales.  Heck, I had loaded some coin onto my account in anticipation of it.  But we got... an "extra" 5% discount for Legendary members.  Gee, thanks.

Soooo... it'll mean more time doing other things than DCUO... like working on the blog!  Still, there is hope for the immediate future:

1) The Anti-Monitor Anniversary event returns on January 7th - In my eyes, a 180 degree turn from the mind-numbing Winter seasonal!  Love the Anniversary event, as it has a lot to engage in, and the Anti-Monitor Boss is usually well balanced (challenging, but beatable).  Arriving on Tuesday!

2) The DCUO Anniversary and gifts - Not exactly sure what will be involved with this, but I'm hoping that it'll be worth the wait... heck, I'd take a good sale as a gift!

With the Anniversary event arriving, and keeping my fingers crossed that there will be a worthwhile schedule of upcoming events, I'm going to just catch up on some football until the 7th, when things will be interesting again with the DCUO.

Happy 2020!

Just like PG recovering from a night of partying, I'm doing the same!  Still, with the start of the new year (and new decade), best wishes and success in 2020!

The disappointing last week of 2019 in the DCUO

Just a quick post to remind everyone about the disappointing last week of 2019.  Though it is "Bonus Currency" weekend, it only applies to Chaos Gotham and Metal Gotham (Metal I) events... not the current mediocre Thanagar (Metal II) event.  This disappointment is on top of the lack of a "Day After Christmas" sale, which used to be a thing (e.g. 2018, 2017, 2016, etc...) but not anymore.  I'm getting the feeling they are in the process of being "penny wise and pound foolish", as a number of individuals who want to burn real cash on virtual goods appear to have changed their minds and will keep their money in their wallet (or purse, as the case may be).  This, in conjunction with the new mediocre Booster bundle, has me thinking that DCUO is having some issues.  I'll delve into that more in future entries, but for now I'm hoping there might be something coming for the new year (hell, I'd even take Three Kings day for a sale), but as of not, not encouraged with the company's direction.

The new Booster bundle for December, 2019 (reviewed)

Batman, by Ex-Trident

Posting a quick review on the newest Booster bundle, which honestly seems a bit underwhelming (imo).  I've been busy with the Christmas holidays, as the current episode (Metal II) has been quick and boring.  I'm looking forward to the Monitor season in January, but it would be nice if DCUO upped their game a bit (e.g. new content for the seasons, new worlds, what not...).  This game engine is almost a decade old, and it is showing.  I'll still play, but until the company gets away from quick cash-grabs, and produces better in-world episodes (again, Metal II as the latest example), I'm just hanging out doing dailies.

I'm not one of those "DCUO is dead" guys, but one has to think of the hours invested in a game that seems to be on the later years of its use arc.  Well, at least the broker is working, so there is that... see you in-world!

Wonder Woman 1984 - Watch the trailer!

It goes without saying that I would need to post on the more successful DC cinematic franchises of the last few years!  Saw the new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 and thought it was outstanding!  I do have a few minor quibbles (e.g. the "flying on lightening bolts", and some other minor issues), but love the fact its in the 1980's, what looks like some great superhero special effects... and what looks like some good comedy thrown in as well!  Looks like a winner - we'll see if any future DC movies can match up to it!  See you in-world...
